Where Are They Now? Meet COSSPP Alum Alexandra Griffin

What have you been up to since you graduated? (Applying to/attending graduate school, working a job, etc.)
I graduated in Spring 2021 with a B.A. in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Since I graduated I have been working in Disaster Recovery with Hagerty Consulting. With Hagerty I have had the privilege of assisting several municipalities and counties in the U.S. recover from disasters like hurricanes and Covid-19. I am also very excited to be returning to FSU for my Master’s in Public Administration this fall!

How did your degree in social science help inform your path?

My degree in social sciences helped me find my career path through the college’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security program. I inadvertently took an Emergency Management class my sophomore year and knew after the first day on syllabus week that I wanted to pursue a career in Emergency Management/Homeland Security. Not only did my degree help teach me about the field, but the networking opportunities FSU makes available to their students allowed me to make connections that have led to wonderful internships and my current position with Hagerty.

What is your favorite memory or spot on campus?

My favorite memory at FSU is with the FSU Equestrian Club. I was lucky enough to be a member of one of the club’s three competitive teams for every year I was at FSU. While I don’t have one specific memory that is my favorite, I would not trade the experiences I had and memories I made with my teammates for anything!
