What department are you a graduate student in?

My name is Saher Khan, and I am a graduate student of the master’s in public health Program.

Why did you decide to go to graduate school?

I was working as a general dentist when the pandemic hit, and in as few words as possible, I would say, every aspect of normality had changed. It not only affecting my career, but I lost a lot of loved ones and incurred devastating financial effects as well. I realized that in order to somehow prevent such disastrous effects from occurring once more I needed to participate in the evolution of health and well-being. It is here that I decided to step into the world of public health.

Did your interests change throughout your program?

I have only completed my first semester and I would say my mind does tend to between health care management policy making.

What do you want to do with your advanced degree?

I would like to actively participate in bettering the infrastructure of the health care industry to make it more equipped in handling future pandemics or a worldwide crisis.
